wow so much to blog about, don't know where to begin! so as always, i'll do it chronologically. here goes:
on friday, was supposed to meet up with zh for lunch and shoot some pool after, you know just to catch up and stuff. but the night before, i just found out that nat kenneth and mark were having a 21st bday celebration at The Oosh on friday night. oh yeah i found out via the invitation card, which came in the mail, nicely printed - personalised and all. so teng chi tagged along since we had to do some gift shopping for the birthday peeps. his bros came along for lunch, oh and i have to mention this: we met outside KFC, completed one round around PS and ended up eating back at KFC where we started -.-'
after that we went around the shops looking for suitable gifts. after we all added sufficient dashes of creative, pragmatic and whimsical flavours, we managed to come up with 3 gifts for them. oh i should also mention that later on, at teng's place, we exhibited more ingenuity to add aesthetic appeal to the presents using merely ribbons and cling wrap :P haha! anyway i digress.
having successfully conquered the gift conundrum, teng's brothers went back, while the 3 of us went to shoot some pool. having not played pool in quite awhile, i wasnt in the best of form heh. but well, luckily i still remembered how to pot balls. i can't recall the name of the place now, think it might've been Pool Junction? anyway the place wasn't bad, the facilities seemed fairly new, and the cues were nice. i think i only won once, when zh potted the cueball along with the 8-ball. that's out out of practice i was haha. we headed over to starbucks at The Cathay for drinks and chilled there for awhile, before heading towards the MRT station.
at the MRT station though, we noticed a LAN shop. instead of the usual counterstrike, warcraft etc, the people there were playing other games like MapleStory, Pangya, Audition SEA and more. and interestingly, a significant proportion of them were girls. beside the LAN shop, we spied a gaming arcade. now i hadnt stepped into one for the longest time so intrigued, i went in for a lookaround. times have changed indeed. several of the games were based on the Cards each person had. so it becomes a TCG video game of sorts, where gameplay is determined by how good or powerful your cards are. also saw some ppl playing the guitar and drum versions of beatmania. they were good too. next to them i'd probably appear to have 3 left feet and all thumbs.
so fast forward to the highlight of the night. teng chi and i arrived at about 8.30pm. understandably, apart from nat kenneth and mark, few others were there before us. chatted with nat for abit, got to know what was happening with her and all that. oh yes and the area that they booked was quite nice. a private bar and all. weiyuan complained that joses didnt tell him how atas the place was, and that he nearly came in slippers. we all enjoyed the joke of the night: weiyuan's "party hat".
it was fantastic how so many ppl came. got to catch up with nat, peter, weiyuan, joses, ashley, angela, kenneth goh, zhiyang, louisa, debbie, keith, jason etc. also saw michelle lee whom i havent seen in forever. i cant even begin to imagine the logistical problems of organising something of this scale. but all the same, im happy and honoured to be a part of it.
ok now what's next :)
